Sports Safety When we think of dangerous sports we think bungee jumping and skiing would be at the top of the list. Here's some useful information for you and your family when you are playing sports.
What You Can Do To Prevent
Injury?
2. Check Playing Surfaces 3. Adult Supervision Children should always be supervised by a responsible adult who has a commitment to safety. 4. Proper Preparedness of Child Athletes
Make sure children know how to play the sport. Make sure they
have warmed up and have had training sessions. Just because you are an adult, doesn't mean you are any less prone to injury. When it's Spring again, everyone comes out on the weekend doing things they haven't done in months. They try to do too much too fast and then they injure themselves. Here's some tips for making sure adults don't end up at the doctor's office either:
1. Wear a Helmet!!! 2. Go Back Gradually
If you decide to start playing a sport such as softball or
basketball, don't try to play every day. Start out by playing
once a week for awhile and then twice a week, etc. Five or ten minutes of stretching before you play a sport can make all the difference in the world. Even a light jog around the playing field before you begin can prevent injury. 4. Ice it Down
If you do fall prey to injury, be
sure to ice down the swelling for 48 to 72 hours. The swelling
and pain should subside within a few days.
