Working From Home

It seems more and more parents are choosing to either work from home or start their own business so they can work at home. We're going to focus on moms for the purposes of this article.

Why Now?
There are several reasons why more moms are wanting to work from home.

Childcare
Some families are able to save on childcare if one parent is working from home. The cost of childcare has gone up (along with the cost of everything else, it seems) so anywhere families can save money, they do. It's also difficult to find reliable, trustworthy childcare. Some parents just don’t like the idea of leaving their children with anyone, so they choose to work from home.

Increase in Gas Prices
It’s obviously cheaper and less hassle to work from home. I don’t think we need to talk about gas prices, right?

Convenience
Who wouldn’t like to work from Starbucks or sit at home in their pajamas? You can sleep later and work at your own pace. Working from home seems like the logical choice here. For us moms, it’s also nice to be able to start dinner and continue working at the same time. We like multi-tasking.

Internet
The Internet has given many people unbelievable opportunities to pursue their dream of owning their own business. Set-up costs can be relatively small depending on the business and the income potential can be limitless.

Because They Can
Many companies are trying to improve their image by being more “family friendly”. Working from home certainly is family friendly. Happier employees make for increased productivity.
